Pitch Perfect 2 beat Mad Max Fury Road in quite convincing fashion with a weekend gross of over $70 million dollars.
This already puts the the sequel ahead of the previous film which was a slow burner and took $65 million back in 2012.
Age of Ultron slips into 3rd place on its third week on the box office having taken an American gross of $372 million.
Other new film on the US charts are: As already mentioned Mad Max Fury Road land at 2 this week with $44 million.
